Website updates

MYC website updates.

After much well deserved nagging, the photos page has been brought up to date so the site in general doesn’t look so dated. If you have photos to donate please let us know; they are the lifeblood of the site really. Instructions at top of photos page.

The photos page shows some simple stats (again) and most/least viewed photos; give the least viewed some love

You can comment on photos. This is a trial. If it’s abused we’ll have to remove it (again).

News items also have a comment facility now.

There is now a very simple experimental chat page for buy/sell/swap crew wanted/available etc.

The results page has been morphed into a more general racing page, which is update to date with 2018 info.

The training page has been updated for 2018.

It should be more mobile/tablet friendly now. Let us know any screen sizes it fails completely on. In portrait mode it shows the site as a single column with the photos removed. In landscape mode it shows the site somewhat like a desktop.

Use the contact form (email icon top right) for feedback and suggestions for further changes to the site.

So what do think…

We (your club committee) want to know more about what you think about the club, what’s on offer, what we do well or what else we could or should be doing. So, we are in the process of completing and distributing a series of short surveys – here are the first batch.

We would appreciate it if you could spend a short time completing the surveys below, the findings of which will help us to make decisions and grow the club in the right direction. There are 10 questions in each survey that should only take a matter of minutes to complete. The surveys are not linked and so you will find that some questions are similar – this is done deliberately as not everyone will complete every survey.
Should you wish to discuss the subjects raised in the surveys further, please email me at mumblesyc@gmail.com
Many thanks for your support.

“Team Aurora would like to thank the members of Mumbles Yacht Club for their support during the Three Peaks Yacht Race. We received lots of messages of encouragement and congratulations, which really helped us keep going. We are sure this contributed to us winning the last sailing leg and achieving second place overall. You also gave very generously to our chosen charities, and we have raised over £3,000 so far. Help Oscar raise £ for charity in 3Peaks Race

Hi all,

A message from Oscar.

I’m writing on behalf of myself and my teammates in team “Team Aurora”, namely:-

Claudio D’onofrio (runner/crew)||
John Cherry (runner/crew)||
Will Harrison (backup runner/crew)||
David Charles (crew)||
David Downs (team support)||

We have entered this year’s 40th anniversary Three Peaks Yacht Race:-

www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk

17760757_1301868623182641_2784346874697358896_o

It starts at Barmouth on Saturday 17th June.  This world renowned adventure race involves sailing up the West Coast of the UK, making 3 stops where 2 runners from each boat run inland and scale the peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.  In total, the race involves approximately 390 miles of sailing (and rowing!), 60 miles of running, and 30 miles of cycling and typically takes 4/6 days to complete depending on weather conditions.

We are self-funding this race and aim to raise money for two very worthwhile charities, Médecins Sans Frontières and the MS Society (I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis last year).

With your help, we can meet or even exceed our fundraising targets. Please pass this on to anyone you think would be interested

Our team is based in Swansea and will be sailing Aurora, a Contessa 33.

We now have two just giving pages (one for each charity). Share at your will:-

MS Society: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TeamAroura

MSF: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TeamAroura2

We also have a Facebook page:-

https://www.facebook.com/Team-Aurora-Three-Peaks-Yacht-Race-1301847463184757

We are a determined team and are setting our sights on achieving as high a place as possible when taking into account the IRC handicap based on yacht design.

We would be grateful for any assistance you could provide.

Best wishes,

Oscar Chess on behalf of Team Aurora
